Sweaters/Cardigans:

Rosemary Cardigan, Cascade 220 Heather
Easy Top-down Raglan, Noro Kureyon and Patons North America Ballybrae
Hugo, Patons Classic Merino Wool
Little Coffee Bean Cardigan, Cascade 220
February Lady Sweater, madelinetosh Tosh Merino

Shawls/Scarves:

Dancing Bees MKAL, Debbie Bliss Rialto Lace
Mini Mania Scarf, all my leftover sock yarns

Hands and Feet:

2aat Toe-up Socks, Lorna's Laces
Cuff-down Vanilla Socks, Patons Kroy Sock Yarn
Morgan, Loops and Threads Woolike
Three Tams Inspired Mitts (or something like that), Cascade 220 and Knitpicks Wool of the Andes
Three Tams Inspired Mitts, Patons Classic Worsted and Knitpicks Wool of the Andes

Blankets:

Snowflake Blanket, Red Heart Comfort Solids FROGGED
Fuss Free Baby Blanket, Red Heart Eco-Ways; Bernat Cashmere Natural Blends (started September - oops!) FROGGED

Hmm, well one out of three isn't horrible.  I worked on the poncho pretty  much all month and I'm most of the way done.  I worked on the sock for a bit, but didn't make it to the heel.  As for the blanket, still haven't decided.  I'll give it another month.

I did start a new project for our band's Secret Santa thing, but that'll be quick.

December Goals:  Work on the new project (due on the 10th anyway), work on the socks (I'm sure the recipient would like a pair of socks for Christmas), and decide on the blanket's fate.  Maybe decide on both blankets' fates, given that we're not having a girl.

New project was successfully completed, as were another pair that I started for a friend.  I finished the socks and frogged both blankets.

I've also decided to knit my mom a new February Lady Sweater, but I have to order yarn for it still.  The one I started will be for me.

January Goals:  Finish the poncho and perhaps the baby cardigan, though I still have time (knock on wood).  And hopefully start my mom's sweater.

Sweaters/Cardigans:

Rosemary Cardigan, Cascade 220 Heather
Easy Top-down Raglan, Noro Kureyon and Patons North America Ballybrae
Hugo, Patons Classic Merino Wool
Little Coffee Bean Cardigan, Cascade 220

Shawls/Scarves:

Dancing Bees MKAL, Debbie Bliss Rialto Lace

Hands and Feet:

Blankets:

Snowflake Blanket, Red Heart Comfort Solids
Fuss Free Baby Blanket, Red Heart Eco-Ways; Bernat Cashmere Natural Blends (started September - oops!)

Success!  Worked on the sock and finished the raglan increases.  And started a couple new things (of course).

I need to decide whether I'm going to continue with the Snowflake Blanket.  I haven't worked on it in over a year, and I really don't know if I even want to finish it.

November Goals:  Keep working on that poncho, get to the heel of that sock, and make a decision on that blanket.

I finished my GoM a week after the Fair, but it is finished!  Just working on the poncho, but I'm sure I'll find something else to start, like usual.

There's a cowl I want to knit, and I bought a really nice skein of madelinetosh at the Fair so I'm sure it's only a matter of time before I find out what it wants to be.

October Goals:  Finish raglan increases on the poncho and maybe work a few rows on that sock.

Success!  I'm midway through clue 3 and kinda want to have it finished before the Knitters' Fair on September 10.  So, despite having started a poncho for this winter, I'm now working exclusively (let's hope) on my GoM.

September Goals:  Finish Girdle of Melian by the 10th.

What Were They Thinking!?

When we moved into this apartment last year, the old tenants didn't have to paint over any walls as part of the agreement.  So, our kitchen is bright red, the bathroom is blue, and the computer room is teal on three walls and striped on the fourth.

That teal is painted on textured wallpaper.

So this weekend we decided to take off the wallpaper.  It was peeling badly in one area anyway.  Apparently we should have left well enough alone, because look at what was painted on underneath.

It's a lot darker in person, and now we need to paint sooner than we realized!

July Update

Current WIPs (new ones are bolded):

Sweaters/Cardigans:

Rosemary Cardigan, Cascade 220 Heather
Quivira Coat, Patons Classic Merino Wool
Easy Top-down Raglan, Noro Kureyon and Patons North America Ballybrae
Wee Speedy, Sirdar Peru Naturals

Shawls:

Dancing Bees MKAL, Debbie Bliss Rialto Lace
Girdle of Melian MKAL, Classic Elite Yarns Alpaca Sox (Frogged - yarn didn't work)
Girdle of Melian MKAL, Bernat Cotton-ish

Hands and Feet:

2aat Toe-up Socks, Lorna's Laces
Cuff-down Vanilla Socks, Patons Kroy Sock Yarn
Morgan, Loops and Threads Woolike

Blankets:

Snowflake Blanket, Red Heart Comfort Solids
Fuss Free Baby Blanket, Red Heart Eco-Ways; Bernat Cashmere Natural Blends (started September - oops!)

Finished Picea!  Love that shawl.  Went to work!  Played Guild Wars 2 every day!  Ok, I always do those last two ....

And so there's this MKAL that I had to do, because my favourite designer's doing it for her latest shawl pattern (Raven Knits), and so I started one, then started another in cotton.  That was last weekend.  I probably shouldn't have marathoned Clue 1 for the second shawl in one day.  My right wrist hurts so badly now that I haven't been able to knit much at all this week!

Okay, so July Goals:  Solve wrist issues and try to keep up with the MKAL on the alpaca shawl.  Or at least only be one clue behind.

Blankets:

Snowflake Blanket, Red Heart Comfort Solids

Finished chart two/B.  Ate (lots of) pizza.  Lost another five pounds.  Went to work (a lot more than I wanted to).  Success!

I even knit some rows on the vanilla socks!

June Goals:  Finish Chart four (D) on Picea (I'd love to finish the shawl, but my subconscious likes to mess with me).  Go to work some more (I actually do work Monday-Friday, but hey, it's a goal I can make!).  Play Guild Wars 2 once a week.

I Just Wanted To Clean Up My Closet

On February 15 (it was Family Day this year) I cleaned up my closet.

You know, the regular 'this doesn't fit' and 'I haven't worn this in months years' and 'I don't think these jeans are supposed to have holes there'.

So that's what we (my husband and I) were doing.  Innocently.  And then it happened.

Or, rather, I happened upon a pair of jeans I hadn't worn since Hallowe'en 2010.  I looked at them.  They stared back.  I said 'Hey, husband (well, I said his name, but whatever), look at these!'  I had converted them into flared jeans with some Beatles' Yellow Submarine fabric.  I thought, well, I'm never wearing these in public ever again, so may as well toss them!

Then I made my mistake.  I looked at the size.

My thought processes went insane.  I hadn't been a size 6 in six years!?  What happened?  I knew my weight had been steadily increasing since my employment at that local coffee shop, and marriage didn't help that.  But ... I'm a size 12/14 now and 190lbs (sometimes 193 on bad days).  What the heck happened?

Something broke and I said I wanted to fit into those jeans in February 2017.  So I swore off pop.

The next week, after swearing off pop (and being quite successful at it), I asked a co-worker for some tips.

Thus began continued my journey.  And I'm happy to say that now, almost four months later, I've lost 30lbs and my size 12 jeans are getting really loose.

But I'm not looking at sizes the next time I clean up my closet.

Hmm.  Not a lot of knitting happened in April.  I'm halfway through chart two on Picea, might have knit a row on the sock but who really knows, and still can't remember what project I was gonna do with the oldest yarn.

May Goals:  Finish chart two on Picea.  Eat some pizza.  Lose another five pounds.  Go to work.  I think I got this.

Blog Title

I just changed the title of this blog from "Will Work for Yarn" to "Still Working For Yarn".  All because there's another blog with the same name (they've got the 'f'' capitalised) and I can't get my Ravelry designs to link properly!  Should be good now though.

Stuff

Tasty:

New muffin, was told it was delicious, am in agreement.  Seriously, that was a two-minute muffin.

Latest stash, not including remnants and missing two massive balls of acrylic and ten balls of two other yarns.  Still cool-sheeping it.  Though I did buy yarn from Value Village a couple weeks ago.  That was a good deal though!  A ball of laceweight (800-ish yards) for $4.99 and three hanks of sock yarn for $4.99!  That's good!  But I will try to not buy anymore (thinks about gift cards for Michaels and for Needle Emporium).

Chickadee.

December Goal completed, albeit three days before the 'deadline'.

January Goals:  Make sure all WIPs are in Ravelry and here.  Finish the Leaf Scarf and one sock (notice I didn't specify 'pair').  Also, decide what to do with Parlour Cat project.

Random Goals

I'm putting a couple other goals in a separate post, just some things I'd thought about doing for a few years but never got around to doing.

1.  Delete photos from computer:  I keep all my pics.  Even the blurry ones.  Why?  Dunno, really.  But every month I think I'll work on 20 folders (they're done by date) and get rid of the excess.

2.  Catalog tea:  We have a nice collection of tea.  Ok, too much tea.  Mostly loose-leaf, and some of it getting older.  So I want to go through it, get an idea of what we have, throw out anything too old, and clean that basket up a bit!  (Yeah, only a basket.)

3.  Get rid of almost-finished/needs fixing bag:  I have a bag of knit projects that either need to be blocked, fixed, ends woven in, etc.  I no longer consider a project finished if it isn't blocked/ends woven in, but these are from before that.

4.  Catalog inks:  Got a lot of those, too, and it would be nice to know what we have without looking through them all.

5.  Clean up filing:  Shred the old income tax papers and other things that have been piling up.

6.  Put away needles:  Uh, yeah, gotta get on that.  I have a plastic container where I put all my now-empty circulars, but they actually belong in a receipt folder (one of the plastic ones from Walmart).  I need to 'file' them away properly.

7.  Obviously, pare down the WIPs.

No timelines here.  I'm not that insane.  Let's see what I can do this year.

December Goals:  Tyson Hat to completion.
